dear prudence.

You know, I like to check in on the news and reviews over at Pitchfork every once in a while… but god, how I despise their flashing American Apparel advertisements.

This time it’s their new super shiny slutty swimsuit wear.

I mean really, if I’m reading about how crappy the latest Wilco album is (Ha, no surprise there!), the last things on my mind are swimsuits, leggings and metallic tube tops.

It just seems really out of place if you ask me.

Like who the heck is going to wear this out to the beach?

Someone who’s really into Modest Mouse?

Lamé swimwear = lame.

You all know that sorta fabric hides nothing. It’s unforgiving. Every bulge, bump, bone and nipple would be sticking out through that fabric for the whole sunbathing world to see.

No thank you.

Even if I was as skinny as one of those stick bugs that freak me out, you wouldn’t see me collecting seashells at the Cove in a silver lamé suit.

Hell no.

This lady is sticking to petticoats and swimming caps with daisies on them.

    i clicked on the link to the swimsuit and I can see that asian chick’s nipple through those suspender uh, “swimsuit” for lack of a better word.

  6. I, for one, am sick of AA. I cannot fit into their t-shirts. Not because I’m a fat hog, I actually have two things called “boobs” and they’re too danged tight. It’s frustrating when you fall in love with a new ironic t-shirt, and the sizing chart “proudly” points you to the “snugly fitting” American Apparel mfg’ing.

    That swimmer, in silver or gold, is ugly, point blank. Let it melt on the “Dashboard” of Modest Mouse’s car.

  8. Yes, Modest Mouse is still on tour. I actually caught there last show in San Jose before they headed oversease. So they are still technically still on tour, but far far away. I just saw Tapes n Tapes a few weeks back in SF. That was a great show. Now I am contemplating catching Interpol at the Shoreline. I need money though, can I have some? Sorry for the long posting. I should of just emailed you all of this…....

The creepiest thing about these AA models is that they look like they were lured to a photo shoot with the promise of crack rock & tar heroin as payment after a couple hours of perverted posing in lame’ swimsuits and tight orange leggings. They’ve all got that “My dreams are dying with each click of the camera shutter”, zombie stare. Braver souls than I need to step up and start a movement where they tag and track these poor people in hope of rescuing them from these seedy shoots…
