With love and hate and passions just like mine... Andrew Morgan!

1. What is your favorite love song?
This changes a lot but right now it’s Your Magic is Working by
Of Montreal. Tonight I have a show and I’m playing another one of my favorite love songs—Magic in the Air by Badly Drawn Boy.
2. If you weren’t a rockstar, what would you be doing instead?
I am most definitely not a rock star (I’m thinking being comically
impoverished excludes one from that category…), but if all my energy wasn’t focused on music, maybe I would focus it on being a veterinarian (I love dogs) or trying to be a writer for Saturday Night Live (my all-time favorite TV show).
3. Your superhero super power of choice would be?
Flying, invisibility, and invinciblity are the ones that always
come up here, and those are great choices, but mine would have to be (and maybe this is just because I have a show in few hours) super singing. I would never miss a note, never get tired, have infinite range, and even be able harmonize with myself by singing multiple notes at the same time. Very nerdy, I fully realize.
Thanks Andrew!

I don’t believe I’ve devoted an entry to the talented and wonderful Andrew Morgan.
However, most of you know how much I love him. And I’m pleased to say I’ve even recruited a fan or two (Sn!).
When I first heard “Misadventures in Radiology”, it honestly was one of those moments where everything about that one song just blew me away.
From beginning to end, the song had my complete attention and I literally felt transported (I don’t know to where, but someplace good). And when the song started to end and fade out, my heart sank and I wanted to cry.
Of course, I spent an entire week with that song in my ears. Listening to it loudly and discovering some new layer each time. In bed, I fell asleep listening to Andrew singing, “I hope that you dream in color tonight…” and would wake up to it all over again.
There was so much excitement buzzing in me when I heard this song. I wanted to tell everyone about him. And I did! I sent everyone I knew the link to his site.
I bought the CD and since then, it remains a staple.
Misadventures In Radiology got me through the stress of the holidays and every late night, when I found myself wide awake, staring at the ceiling.
I used to listen to Glenn Gould’s Bach: The Goldberg Variations. Something about listening to that CD made my brain feel like it was being massaged.
A strange thing to say, but that’s the closest I can come to an accurate description.
And since I’ve discovered MIR, I can say that this album’s music elicits the same feelings.
I am pleased to report that Andrew Morgan happens to be an extremely delightful person, as well as an incredibly gifted musician and scholar. He is, and maybe most importantly (ha!), a big Smiths fan and has been known to do a cover once in a while.
Last year, he signed with Sonic Boom Recordings (Seattle) who will be releasing Misadventures In Radiology in the US, March 2005. However, you can purchase the CD directly from Andrew through his site.
I’m looking forward to hearing more from Andrew in the future, but he can take his time because I’m still too much in love with Misadventures In Radiology!
And I can’t wait until he tours and comes to California. And with all limbs crossed, I’m hoping he makes a stop in San Diego. However, I’d drive up to LA for him, most definitely!
