Holy cow! Is this not the sexiest DJ flyer you’ve ever seen?
Again, how I wish I were in Detroit :: Thursday.
Burgundy just informed me that my PAS/CAL quilling piece is in the picture. So, if you look really hard and strain your eyes, you’ll see a box in the bottom left, right on the edge of the table in the back, standing up.
That’s what I made!
I know, I’m so easy to please.
Still, it’s quite a thrill for me to be a part of anything PAS/CAL. Especially such sexy photos with Burgundy.
This has turned into PAS/CAL week on PBR!

Summer IS here

As the PAS/CAL turns...
Today, my PAS/CAL single with my favorite song, “Summer Is Almost Here”, finally arrived in the mail. I found it patiently sitting on my welcome mat at my front door.
I was even wearing my PAS/CAL t-shirt when it arrived. Clearly, it’s my Romantic Air sixth sense in effect.
The strange thing is that the labels on side 1 & 2 are mixed up, so the PAS/CAL song is on La Laque’s side and so on. Oh well, I think it makes the single much more adorable and interesting. I love my fabulously flawed copy.
So, if you haven’t purchased one yet! Hurry, quantities are limited.
I’ve added a few more photos from this evening, to my Je t’aime PAS/CAL set on Flickr.
Dear PAS/CAL, this song is for you.

The summer is almost here and so is your new favorite song!
You all know PAS/CAL is my favorite band!
So, here’s another reason why you should love them too, if you don’t already….
Download:
You can pre-order the Limited Edition (500 copies on blue vinyl) single now on their site, here.
I suggest picking up a few for those summer birthdays. It would also make a great gift for those cold winter occasions. And not to mention just owning several so you can brag to your friends how you own 30 of the 500 made.
Please listen to the song and tell me what you think! Love it or hate it. Email the link to your friends and please pass the PAS/CAL joy all around.
I’ve been listening to it on repeat all morning. Yes, it means my ears are in love.
You can read the Pitchfork review of this single here. They gave it four stars!!
This band deserves all the praise and fame in the World. And they’re well on their way.
Three cheers for PAS/CAL!
Oh!
And… I can’t forget!
Happy Birthday to the sexiest, coolest bass player, person, guy...
EVER...

My place for official gushing
10 January 05 ¦ Permalink ¦ Comments
So, since I can’t really gush about PAS/CAL on my “officially unofficial fan site”, I will do it here.
I could go on about them there, but I feel it’s a tad unprofessional. So, I exercise restraint in my ultra fan zeal.
They’ve finally updated their own site and I really dig the changes. I’ve always felt they needed more of the band’s presence on their main page. And with the addition of their favorite photos from 2004, they’ve achieved that.
I adore the sailboats and hearts and the general site layout.
They’ve added 2 new Mp3s, a taste of what to expect on their full-length. And let me tell you, I know I’m going to love it.
“The Glorious Ballad of the Ignored” [Demo] has been on repeat on my iPod all day long. I pause it and replay it as loudly as my ears can manage.
I’m thinking this is what Caz is singing in the beginning:
For we are the ugly ones
Tripped up and made fun of
Yes, we have an agenda (ohohoh)
Which nobody knows (ahh)...
And yes, I’ve managed to write down all the rest of the lyrics too. Well, at least what I think they are.
After a million listens, I’ve decided LTD kicks ass and rocks it in this song. I love the piano/drum part the most so far; for today.
I can’t wait to hear what this song sounds like on the Lp.
The other Mp3 they are sharing with us is a stripped down acoustic version of “Oh, Honey We’re Ridiculous”. What can I say, besides now I’m torn between two versions. I had just devoted myself to the live version from their radio performance, which I put an Mp3 of up on the site as well. So, you can hear both versions and decide for yourself.
The only thing I think about their site redesign is that they should make those Mp3s more prominent. So, one doesn’t have to scroll down to look and happen upon them sitting there at the bottom of the page.
And I also wanted to say how much I love their T-shirt designs. Finally, I can put away my worn homemade embroidered, iron-on and bedazzled PAS/CAL T-shirts. On second thought, I think I will keep the one that says:
MY HEART (Picture of a red heart, not the word)
BELONGS
2BURGS
...because really, it truly does.
Now with their recent updates, I have to update my site. I’m working on the album mouse rollover thing to switch from the front image to the back of “Season’s Greeting from PAS/CAL + Asobi Seksu” split single. Just like how I did for the other 2 Eps under the “Music” section of the site.
So, if you want to check out my site go ahead and click here.
You will also find the Mp3s I put up from their KDET performance as well as links to their new ones from the upcoming Lp.
Or if you just want to go straight to their site and bypass mine, click here.
And if you haven’t guessed it already, or heard me say it a million times already, I love PAS/CAL!

Introducing...

YourHolidaySweater.com a Pas/Cal fansite!
Since I’ve been incredibly productive lately (thank you celibacy), I’ve been able to design this site amongst the other million things I do.
Whether or not anyone will find it as nifty as I do is another question.
Regardless, it was a great experience for me. And one more thing to cross off the list of “things to do before I die” (yes, how many dorks do you know with ‘create fansite for favorite band’ on their list?).
I’ve worked out most of the bugs and hope it’s viewable, as I intended it to be, in most browsers.

I love PAS/CAL and...

so, I’ve been working on my PAS/CAL fan site. I’ve had the idea for a while and have been putting it together a little at a time.
I just love them so much. And felt they needed a fan site, devoted solely to them. Not that they don’t have these things already. I just wanted to make one too – as an expression of my appreciation for their music.
I didn’t think it would take so long. I’m no pro when it comes to these things. It’s been a lot of trial and error.
It took me about a week just to get the colors right. They’ve been changed about a million times since. Maybe this will be a monthly thing!
I’m still fine tuning and adding content. I’m even setting up a forum.
Perhaps it’s the business woman in me, but I’m constantly filled with ideas to launch them to super stardom.
[I did receive an A in my New Product Development course and had planned on specializing in Marketing instead of Real Estate Development. My marketing plan for the Tang (yes, the astronaut’s drink of choice!) relaunch was brilliant. Call me Tang!]
I will control myself on the fan site and keep my opinions at bay.
Once the site is ready, I’ll put up the link.

The hamburger memoirs
10 August 04 ¦ Permalink ¦ Comments
Lovely, silky, and enchanting are a few of the words I’d normally use to describe the marvelous voice of Pas/Cal’s Casimer.
But lately, words like delicious, sweet and savory come to my mind. Maybe it’s due to Week One of this godforsaken South Beach diet, but listening to Pas/Cal elicits sudden pangs of hunger.
It started yesterday:
I was on the treadmill and cooling down to Pas/Cal on my iPod. Not feeling the slightest bit hungry before, I was suddenly famished and grew more so by the second as the music filled my ears.
Then things became really strange today:
I was driving from the bank as “The Handbag Memoirs” began to play in the car. Feeling a bit lightheaded, as I’m told is common in the early SB diet stage, I found myself singing along to my favorite song:
The hamburger memoirs…
Did I just sing ‘the hamburger memoirs’?
Did Pas/Cal?
Let’s spill it out on your brother’s bed,
Some crinkled fries you said I never should have had
OH YEAH!...
What was happening? Did he just sing something about extra brie?
Suddenly, I found myself singing the song with all new tasty lyrics. Having lost self-control, my stomach took over and I soon found myself parked in the long drive-thru line at In-N-Out.
I surrendered to the hamburger memoirs, but at least I ordered it “protein style”—a burger sans the buttery bun, and instead wrapped up in an adorably crisp lettuce poncho.
So for now, I guess it’s all right…

Recently, I received a strange email asking me to choose between the two Pas/Cal Eps. As one who listens to Pas/Cal daily and subjects all around me to listen to it as well (lucky people!). Know that I’m not saying this lightly; I’ve given it much thought. And I would pick Oh Honey, We’re Ridiculous. I love both CDs very much, but OHWR just a wee bit more.

Coincidence? I think not!

I recently received my test results from my last doctor’s visit (you know the one where Pas/Cal was blasting from my iPod). And thanks to Pas/Cal my PAP was negative for cancer! I had some problems a few years ago and am just thrilled to have a clean bill of health. I’m not making any kind of claim that Pas/Cal actually cures illnesses or abnormal cells, but well, you never know! Oh, the power of pop.

Stevie Zoom remains the best DJ on Kexp. He played Pas/Cal for me this morning. Apparently, they’re still without Oh Honey, We’re Ridiculous so he played the excellent The Bronze Beached Boys instead. After the song he referred to them as the pop sensation Passs…Cal (like he really enjoyed saying the name) or something to that affect. He also said the song was from the EP “The Handbag Memories”.
Hearing that the weather in Seattle was overcast with possible showers later, I can only hope the song brought thoughts of sunnier days to the minds of everyone.

I finally went in for my much dreaded annual gynecological visit. I rank these exams right up there with having a root canal (though having never had a root canal myself, I hear they’re quite awful). While filling out paperwork and waiting to be called, I was starting to feel anxious and dizzy. I thought to myself “Now what would make this experience better?” and without hesitation thought Pas/Cal ! The band whose music is happiness audified.
I pulled out my iPod and scrolled down to my favorite band. From the moment I heard the opening hand claps, I started to relax as if they were a hypnotist’s countdown; instantly feeling much better about everything.
Time passed quickly before the nurse called me in. I hopped to my feet and with a spring in my step, followed her down the hall. I couldn’t help but hum along to the song What Happened To The Sands letting the lyrics “...sweet soleil…” quietly escape from my lips a few times as we approached the scale. I was pleasantly surprised by my weight. Fully clothed and with shoes, it was less than I had thought (way to go milk diet!).
Still quietly singing to myself, I changed into my gown, tossed the iPod into my bag and sat waiting for the doctor. She came in, looked over my charts and prepared for the exam. She pulled out a speculum made of clear plastic, into which she inserted a light. The entire thing lit up with a soft glow in her hand. The “Lord of the Rings” dork in me thought it resembled Galadriel’s Light of Earendil, while my stylish side was reminded of a light I once saw at IKEA.
Right at that exact moment, I swore I could hear Pas/Cal’s infectiously catchy I Wanna Take You Out in Your Holiday Sweater coming from somewhere. Initially, I was very excited and couldn’t believe how cool my gynecologist was for having Pas/Cal piping through the office. Then I realized I hadn’t shut off my iPod and that the music was chiming out of my bag.
I must have had the volume way up as it was very loud. I was focused on the music, and wondered if the doctor could hear it and if she could, did she like it? I tried my best not to tap my toes in those stirrups. A difficult feat as it’s a song which dares you to try and sit still. Next thing I knew, she was telling me to sit-up. The exam was over before I even knew it began.
Before leaving me to change back into my clothes, the doctor said with a smile and a wink “Hey, great music and cute socks too.” Giving her the thumbs up, I couldn’t have agreed more. The music was great; having turned what most women dread into a toe-tapping good time. And the socks, they were cute too.

Time to quill
2 May 04 ¦ Permalink ¦ Comments [4]
Instead of spending the weekend lying around at the beach, I was struck by a creative urge to quill. I was listening to Pas/Cal (the best band ever) and was inspired. I went with Edwardian script for the font with floral accents in pink.
Each flower took about 30 minutes to hand-craft: rolling the pieces, cutting, scallopping and using tweezers to curl back every single petal. A labor of love.
For those of you not in the know, quilling is the art of creating intricate shapes from rolled strips of paper. Dating back to the 17th century when European religious orders used materials such as feather quills (hence the name) as tools for wrapping the paper strips. It took an entire day to make this piece.
My best friend is also visiting tomorrow. He just told me that if he and a future partner adopt a baby one day, he has dibs on the name “Pascal”. I thought that was funny. I have never thought of him as a family guy, well that, and it is a really cool name.
My friend is on the South Beach diet and while he has been a vegetarian for years, has gone back to eating meat. Apparently, his vegetarianism was never for ethical reasons; he thought he could lose weight and since he hasn’t, he’s giving meat a second chance. I expressed my shock over his daily breakfast of Canadian bacon. To which he replied, “I would turn Republican if it meant I’d be thin!
I’m heading out to the beach now. We’re having a heat wave (again) and I need to rest my sore, shaky and blistered hands. If I do end up going to that Belle and Sebastian show tomorrow, I’ll be passing out my Pas/Cal art in postcard form.

Music to my ears

It finally happened! KEXP (the best radio station ever) played a Pas/Cal (the best band ever) song per my e-request. Well almost, as I had asked for What Happened to the Sands and DJ Stevie Zoom (the best dj ever) said they didn’t have it. (?)
So, what was different this time? Who knows? Who cares! I just hope that in some small way, I helped introduce someone to their music; bringing them one step closer to the West Coast (i.e. me!). I am a girl on a mission.

Pas/Cal Oh Honey, We’re Ridiculous and The Handbag Memoirs.
I love them so. I can’t stop listening to What Happened to the Sands
How I wish they’d come to CA. I would take them out to dinner and buy them matching iPod minis, complete with engraved personal messages. Unfortunately, the closest I’ve ever come to being in the near vicinity of Pas/Cal was a brief layover in Detroit on a business flight from Boston to LAX.
I first heard their music in 2003 on KEXP (via internet). They played I Wanna Take You Out In Your Holiday Sweater. I immediately googled them and purchased the CD at Amazon.
Every so often I email in a request for Pas/Cal and it never gets played. I was starting to think the DJ didn’t like me or something. So as an experiment I started requesting Pas/Cal along with an alternative request. The alternative request always gets played.
Hey, I just noticed Pas/Cal Eps aren’t available on the iTunes music store. What’s up with that? Even Earlimart is available and their music isn’t featured in a Saturn ad.
